A hidden arts gem in the heart of KL
The Godown is a centre for the arts located in Bukit Nanas, in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. We provide a place for artists, designers, musicians, cultural practitioners, and performers to gather, exchange ideas, collaborate and engage with their audience.
Our building architecture is a juxtaposition of the old and the new, comprising a century old colonial building previously used as a warehouse and a pavilion made of concrete and metal. Both the Main Hall and AiR pavillion were designed to convey a feeling of openness, inclusiveness and interconnectedness between humans and nature (plants, animals and microorganisms). They mirror our organisational values and our mission to create a more inclusive, caring and ecocentric society through our activities which are focused on support for the local artist community and the promotion and encouragement of creative pursuits.
Our close proximity to the Bukit Nanas forest reserve has endowed us with a rich tapestry of greenery surrounding The Godown making it a peaceful and well-hidden retreat tucked away in a busy enclave. Here visitors can connect with art and nature and find nourishment for their soul.
